MP can't find my capture card! (1 Viewer)

I'm a bit green with media portals and am in learning mode.

I have a Pinnacle PCTV 310i Pal stereo DVB-T capture card and have tried to follow the instructions to add my card to the natively supported list using 'graph edit'. I'm still getting this message:-

"No video capture card(s) were found, you won't be able to configure a capture card"

I would have expected the card to be found even if it were not supported. Is this telling me that I have incorrectly added the card or is it that the portal cannot 'see' any cards supported or not??

Hopeful

If using MP1.0RC1 download, accept the HDTV option for install and you will get TVServer + client plugin with mediaportal install, its a bit long winded, but the TVServer should automatically recognise your card.

For more info see here Home - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation

Be patient it does take a little while to setup, but worthwhile :D, do one section at a time ie TV, otherwise you'll scream :(

Don't worry about getting any plugins working until you are happy with what you have working.

    And welcome to MP

Thanks but it looks like I have some reading to do!

I did as you said but when trying to start the tv server configuration, I get a 'set up database' connection asking for a password for 'Microsoft SQL 2005 Server' - The set up did not request a password, I did not set one and it will not accept no password.

OK I've found the password information.

Now when I click on TV-sever configuration I get the message:

"Your version of PsisDecd.dll in path C:\Windows\system32\psisdfecd.dll has too many bugs! Please check our Wiki's requirement page."

I have replaced the file from a Windows XP disc and also with the Arkys version found on this site but I still get the same message.
How do I get past this one?

    Please assist,

I got it working for a few minutes! Thanks.

After a few minutes it froze, so I did a 'test' and produced a zipped log. when I start MP up it goes to a message:

"Unable to start timesharing Unable to start graph"

I have attached the log hoping that is the right thing to do.

    Regards,

    Hi weaver00

Might be worthwhile giving us some machine specs your running this on, user cp is at 2nd row down top of forum page, fill in system specs and activate it.

ps no logs, did you use the advanced + option to upload and then attach them to your post
