MP Client fails to play TV from TV server (1 Viewer)

My setup is like this:

I have a server/client htpc and two client pc's (MP ver. 1.2.1 with the latest SteamedMP skin - firewalls disabled, no antivirus installed, everything as open as possible)

on the server htpc i can watch tv without any problems(everything is working incl. EGP(XmlTV)), but when using one of the client pc's i keep getting the same error.

When entering Watch TV --> TV Guide i am being told to change the ip/hostname to my tv server (but it is correct, so i just hit confirm with the same ip)

Then it says: (freely translated from danish)

Connected to TV server
Can not connect to database
All IP ports connects okay

It clearly looks like there is some problem with the database, but if i use mptvclient 1.3.4 with all the default settings from one of my client pc's, i can connect to the database and watch tv witout any problems (but i would rather that i worked inside MP).

I have tried to watch TV with MP in debug mode from one of the clients with the same result.

Any ideas anyone?

To add...

I have used the same setup (one server/client and two clients - same hardware) with the 1.2 BETA version, and everything worked with that one.

I did the setup the same way...

    Hi nogetmedx

Please post the gentle.config and MediaPortal.xml file from the bad client - these files are in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal on Vista/W7 or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal on XP. Paste the path into Windows Explorer as those are hidden folders...

    Hi again

As I suspected, the problem is in your gentle.config file:

    <DefaultProvider name="MySQL" connectionString="Server=localhost;Database=MpTvDb;User ID=root;Password=******;charset=utf8;Connection Timeout=300;" />

Change "localhost" to "htpc" and the problem will be fixed.

    Thanks for the anwser.

I tried it, but got the same error... and when i look inside gentle.config afterwards, localhost is inserted back in insted of htpc.

i tried changeing my host file to "ip of TV/DB server" localhost and that did the trick... i just hope there arent any other programs useing localhost...
