Hi all,

Downloaded the MediaPortal 0.2.1 release the other night. Backed up and uninstalled my previous SVN'd 0.2.0 version and installed the new one. All seemed fine until I got to the point in the configuration wizard where you autotune your devices. The first screen wanted to autotune DVB radio, this crashed with the "Configuration.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" message.

I restarted the wizard and tried again, same story. Tried again and skipped that screen and went on to autotune the analog signal. That crashed too. Started again, skipped both of those, then the autotune DVB-T screen crashed on attempting to scan for channels, just as the previous two had done, with the same message.

I started the wizard again and configured everything else, skipped all the autotune screens and completed the wizard. Started the Configuration program again but I still can't scan for any channels from there either. I've attached the MediaPortal, Configuration and error log files to this post, I'm afraid I don't know enough about these things to decipher much from them myself.

While we're on the subject of 0.2.1, is it still more up-to-date than 0.2.0 with the latest SVN build or is this a separate fork of the project? In short, which version should I use (0.2.1 or 0.2.0 + SVN) if I want the most functional and stable MediaPortal?

If I've forgotten to include any necessary information please let me know and I'll post it here ASAP.

Thanks in advance,
8bit

    Hi,
You should do a clean install MP 0.2.1.0, which means delete old MediaPortal folder -> install MP 0.2.1.0 (apply a SVN if you want) & then run MP Setup/configure.

For me a clean install of MP 0.2.1.0 + latest SVN it's very stable, but thats here ;).

    Regards

That's exactly what I did. OK, I copied the old folder somewhere else before I uninstalled but I deleted what was left after uninstalling 0.2.0 and before installing 0.2.1.

For me a clean install of MP 0.2.1.0 + latest SVN it's very stable, but thats here ;).

The only SVNs I can see on the site say they're based on 0.2.0. Can I safely apply these to 0.2.1?

    Hi,
Yes you can use them on MP 0.2.1.0 also, this could be changed for future releases but for now that works just fine.

OK thanks for that, I'll give it a shot.

Incidentally I think I've fixed my crashing issue, I got newer drivers (2.5E) from www.hauppauge.co.uk. It's scanned successfully now, I'll give it a go and see if I can view channels.

    Cheers!
