mp crashes when connect to hdtv (1 Viewer)

I have put most of the weekend into this and got MP 1.0RC4 (HD express install) working reasonably nicely for TV on my newbuild htpc, have got dvb-t and dvb-s channels recording, including HD, and webepg xml working. I do all this setup stage using 2' interface configuration with keyboard and mouse and LCD monitor in my study.

now I am happy with it, I get ready to celebrate by moving the htpc to the lounge and connecting it to my 50" hdtv. But - MP crashes .Fairly late on in the initialisation, if I can observe the vmediaportal initilisation various message correctly.

The ONLY significant thing i am changing from the working situation to the non-working is the display used. I even have the same network connection as its wireless. OK so I am connecting to a differnet TV/SAT outlet socket and a different mains point, but that should really be irrelevant.

• MP working- connected to dell 2709, 1920x1200@60hz (Via DVI or HDMI, have tried both, both work)
• MP not working (crash) - connecteed to pioneer kuro 500, 1920x1080@50hz

windows vista itself is working fine in the second case, I am using it to type this message on the HDTV with a not-as-nice -as-the-real-thing wireless mini-keyboard.

can anyone help me on this? does the crash log file attached shed any light?

just moved htpc back to study and lcd monitor (hdmi connected). I run my monitor now at 1920x1080 (i.e. same as HDTV)
media portal crashes.
change to 1920x1200 (native lcd monitor resolution)
media portal works.
bizzarre.
off to bed...

So I just want to answer my own post.

I rebuilt my PC (vista reinstall) and reinstalled MP, using my LCD monitor. Set to resolution to 1080p (1920x1080) as soon as ATI display drivers are installed and never change it.

now when I connect my PC to HDTV using HDMI - MP runs!

So there is something inside MP, that can't cope with change of resolution between install-time and run-time.
seems a bit odd to me (surely I'm not the only person who builds his HTPC on a monitor but runs it on an HDTV?) but there you go..
