Morning all,

I've looked as much as I can to see if this is an issue but wasn't able to find anything relevant.

I have recently added over 20,000 new music files to my MP folder and since doing this MP won't start up. It gets to the Display Windows Plugins page and then crashes. The process is still running but nothing gets displayed on the screen. As soon as I remove the files or rename the music folder, all is well.

Is this a known issue? Is there a limit to the number of music files that can be imported?

Sorry to be a bit vague but if you need further info, please let me know.

Thanks in advance
John

no, there's no limit to the number of files, that can be imported. i have 5 times as much in my db.
i suspect, that there's a problem with one of your files or folders.

try to narrow down, which file / Folder it is.
one way could be to look into the music database and see the last file tht has been added.
the one following it in the same folder or the next folder should be the one causing the trouble.

you can send me a link to a free file hoster, where you uploaded your music db and i will have a look at it.
    also please post your configuration.log.

but i won't have time to look at it, before next monday, since i'm away with no internet connection

This implies running the shares scan from Configuration.exe

Hmmm . Sounds like there may be an error in one of the audio files itself. RTV is it possible that NP is trying to update the ID3 information and when it reaches an error it chokes up.

I have well over 20,000 myself and never had any problem.

I suggest converting audio files to a single format before scanning into the database.
Also you can scan folders from within MP one at a time. Try removing the renaming folder in configuration, don't scan right away then goto mymusic and scan each folder. if it chokes on you then bingo I'm right, if not well sorry!
