MP doesn't start after crash (1 Viewer)

In the process of setting up my HTPC with MP I came across the problem that whenever MP crashes in a way you get a sudden system reboot MP will not start anymore after the reboot. I already had this problem earlier when I was playing around with postprocessing (yes I know that's on your own risk) so I put back my image file from the day before and went on.

Now I was fiddling around with my sounddrivers, to enable the sound trough HDMI (at first I had sound output through normal jack-plug output). Unfortunately MP crashed (and a sudden reboot) when I started My TV. Probably because I was forgotten to change the sound output to the Realtek Digital audio output. However I now have the same problem as earlier, MP will not start anymore. When I try to start it, it crashes directly at the beginning of the splash screen.

Is this a known issue (could not find anything similar with the search)? Or is it better to set the image file back again (don't hope so, it's already a few days old and I did a lot of setting up in these days).

Edit: MP Configuration Tool will start, also the MP TV Server Config is functioning ok

You could try renaming the Mediaportal.xml file. Looks like it could be corrupted (as a side effect of the crash).

Had today the same

PC has lost the USB ports after resumed from standby... pressed the reset button - after that the Mediaportal.xml file was corrupted...

restored the one back from backup and all worked normaly...

the same is happened last week with the gentle.config file in the Mediaportal folder, the file had 0 bytes after restart.

how can this hapen?

That did not do the trick, MP still crashes immediately.

I put new logfiles with this post (after the rename of Mediaportal.xml), maybe you can see something new in it (I can't make any "chocolate" out of it, a Dutch saying translated )

hmm... the error.log is still showing the same error. In witch folder did you rename the Mediaportal.xml? Is it possible that there is some old .xml file in the MP installation folder as current MP version uses user / application data folders to store the data files. So you could do a search for all possible Mediaportal.xml files.

I'm very sorry to say but it still doesn't work. I renamed (the probably new created by MP) mediaportal.xml (in the folder c:\ProgramData\Mediaportal) again, but still no solution.

I forgot to mention that the previous time I encountered this problem (and eventually put back an image file of my C-drive) I tried to deinstall MP, delete all left over files and registry settings. Reinstall MP, and still encountering the problem. I can't say for sure it'll be exactly the same this time (because of a different reason for the MP crash in the first place) but besides the different reason the problems look exactly alike.

There may be a key in the registry, pointing to MP from the drivers, might be worthwhile uninstalling them, and using driver cleaner pro to clean out the Realtek entries, prior to reinstalling the driver.

it's being triggered by MP starting up, hence the no can find corruption.

Unfortunately it still didn't work, so I reloaded my image from a week ago. Hopefully it won't happen again, but above all, I'll make new images of my C-drive every 2 days or so
