I've been fighting with this thing all weekend so I hope someone can lend some help. I must use VMR9 otherwise the MPV decoder doesn't show the OSD and when I stop playback I just get a black screen. Switching to the Microsoft MPEG2 decoder (also without VMR9) solves the OSD and black screen after stopping problem, but it has horrible tearing. When using VMR9 all above playback/stopping/OSD issues are solved, however, it introduces a new issue. To reproduce I simply start a movie, hit the red button to get the GUI with the movie still playing in the corner, then use the back button to get to the home screen and playback and the GUI freeze, or seem to freeze. The cpu is still being used as if the movie was still playing and I can use the mouse and click the close button (keep in mind there is no mouseover color change on any button at this point) to partially close the GUI (it relinquishes DirectX control and shows the desktop, but stays in the taskbar) then I use task manager to end the process. Something that is weird is that it only locks up on certain screens. I can switch between My Videos and My Music as many times as I want without a problem, but once I switch to the My Radio screen or Home then it has the problem. The problem doesn't happen when MP is in windowed mode, only in fullscreen mode. I tried this with MPV, Microsoft MPEG2 and Nvidia Purevideo decoders and all resulted in the same problem. I tried with a different HDD, videocard and memory and still get the same problem. Does anyone think they can help me before I start to break the keyboard with my forehead. Thanks.
