My system is no exception, and none of ATI's recent drivers 8.11, 8.12 and 9.1 works correctly here.</p><p></p><p>What makes me wonder though, is that I never see issues with broken DXVA, green/distorted pictures, program crashes, etc..., when I record those HDTV channels that I cannot watch in MediaPortal, and play the files in PDVD's own player: Everything is fine then, smooth picture, no tearing, playback is 100% stable and H264 hardware acceleration works flawlessly (CPU = 5%). How come that I see those problems with MediaPortal?</p><p></p><p>I am no software specialist and I am far from blaming anything. But from the above, what other conclusion could you draw except that MP seems to use codec and driver in a different way, which causes the problems?</p><p></p><p>I cannot point into a specific direction since the whole matter obviously is complex. As an example, I can playback all H264 files (.ts format) in Mediaportal, but MP sometimes uses no DXVA while PDVD8 always does (DXVA options enabled). As another example, with CAT 8.12 I found that DXVA was active only when VMR9 exclusive mode was selcted in MP. There were more examples like this with the individual CAT driver versions, but they all have in common that playing videos in PDVD is stable.</p><p></p><p>There must be a difference in how MP uses the drivers and codecs.</p><p></p><p>Can someone comment on this?</p></blockquote><p></p>
