Hi,

Yes the log can help to find the cause of problem (set the level DEBUG in MP configuration).

The problem with encoding it is to check the CPU activity because on small machine the CPU is over load ( 100% ) and after the PC doesn't respond. If you have time i propose to start MP in smal windows( not full screen) and execute the task manager to check the CPU activity , then launch a transcoding job.

If the CPU is 100% and nothing respond (or slowly) it is problably a performance problem (or a bug in binaries of FFMPEG or MENCODER ), may be it is good way to test FFMPEG and MENCODER to find the better process for your machine
