MediaPortal Version: 0.2.2.0
MediaPortal Skin: Blue (basic)
Windows Version: XP SP2
CPU Type: Athlon 64
HDD: 80Gb
Memory: 1Gb
Motherboard: ASUS
Video Card: ATI Radeon 9800
Sound Card: Creative Live 24
1. TV Card: None

Just downloaded and installed MP and everything works fine except I am unable to play MP3s. Video card plays DVDs, MPEGs, QT, Real and so on and sound card plays audio CDs, DVD sound, MPEG sound etc. When I try to play MP3 from either CD or on PC nothing happens - no sound.
When I try to configure MP for another audio/music player I am only given two default choices - a BASS player or the default player. If I tweak too much in the music settings when I return to MP the music selection disappears and I am only left with video, DVD, Radio etc choices.
I have a number of media players on my PC including WMP 11, Quintessential Player, Creative Player, Zoom Player, Media Player Classic (which takes care of the Real audio and the Quicktime content) and Foobar.
MP3s play OK in all of the above.
What am I missing? Am I not opting for something during install? Surely by default MP should recognise MP3s, they are shown as a recognised format in the music format list?!? Help :) Thanks

Hi hwahrmann

Thanks for replying. I have attached all of the logs I think may help. Any pointers about what I've done wrong, what I haven't done or need to do or why this feature won't work on my machine would be most welcome. Thanks again.

Ok, first of all, i didn't see that you started Music at all.
And you're using a skin called Dragon.

    Please do the following.
    In Configuration:

    1. Set the Log Level to Debug under General Settings
    2. In Music select BASS player. Leave the rest for default
    3. In Music Folders, make sure that you've defined a Folder, which contains Music files
    4. Then enter MP and select the Music Module
    5. Select the Share View and play a song
    6. Post MediaPortal.log

I also uninstalled and reinstalled MP, followed your instructions and now everything seems to be working fine. Thanks for your help.
