this should become a vote for the developers team to introduce about 2 to 3 reference htpcs in various levels of hardware prices. The installed software should also be referenced and tested.
these machines should have been tested to meet all of mediaportals features especially suspend/wakeup by remote and by scheduled recordings. several possibilities for epg- download should be installed and possible to choose from.
for such computers it should be possible to have registry settings and other settings to download and install, so that no further tweaking for a fully supported mp should be necessary.
for customization such as regional settings a installation procedure should be provided.

i would ask you to support this idea by posting your opinion...

    Hi

Nice idea, except hardware is obsolete in 6 months, we work on microsofts principal that manufacturers get it right to run the Windows OS, drivers then get blamed back on them.

That is far too much of a onus to put on the MP-Team, as long as you have a well balanced fairly modern setup (mines 18+ months old) then most issues should be able to overcome.

Regarding TV, if analogue or DVB-T, aerial problems (yep that thing on the roof that has not been looked at for years) with signal come fairly high, again outside MP scope.

Hardware is important, but there are so many, way beyond the resources of a free program :(

    Just not practical.

Sounds like a good idea in principal but what happens when you go and lay down a lot of money on one of those reference systems, follow all the install instructions to the letter and yet you still have problems, all you're going to do is blame the mp team...

As PD said it's just not practical.
