Hello All,

This is my first venture into Media Portal and I need some help . I am using one of my HTPC at the moment with windows 7 and the silicondust HDHomeRun Prime with a fios cable card. After 3 days of staying up late and reading all the threads and wiki's, I still can not get it to find the right channels. I tried scanning in atsc and qam. ATSC only give me 79 channels, and qam standard gives me 659. I had cam on both times and I still get a lot of unknown channels or duplicate channels that can't be played. I get some duplicate channels that can be played but I have no idea what channel number they are.

I ultimatly want to set this up on my windows home server 2011 and have my HTPC's as clients but I need to learn how to set it up as a stand alone first.

:D

    Hi Furron

I don't know how you're managing to get the HDHomeRun Prime to work at all - it is not supported (I have tried to get it working for other people and it refused to work). Please post your TV Server logs so that I can see what is going on:

    1. Open TV Server configuration.
    2. Click "open log directory" in the top left hand corner.
    3. Zip up all the files you find there and post them here.

    Hi mm1352000,

Thank you for the quick reply. I am including the log file that you asked for.

It is not supported  oh no

    regards,

    Hi again

    Thanks for the logs. :D
I was totally confused when you said you had managed to find channels. Now I see in your logs that it appears like you have a regular HDHomeRun as well as a Prime - is that the case?

    It is not supported
Correct - and the reason is that the Prime is totally different to the original HDHomeRun. I've talked with Silicondust and at this point it seems like support would require a huge amount of work, and at the end of that we would only be able to support clear QAM and "copy-freely" content. I could be wrong but that is honestly my understanding at the moment...

Well it seems things change quickly!
Last time I spoke to Silicondust was about a month ago. Since then they have enabled access to the Prime in such a way that MP can support clear QAM tuning. The Prime tuners will appear twice - first like "HDHomeRun Prime..." which cannot be used and second like "HDHomeRun..." which can be used for clear QAM tuning. That is why I was so confused when I saw your logs. Apologies for that.

So to be as clear as possible: clear QAM should be supported via the 3 "HDHomeRun..." tuners. CableCard encrypted channels are still not supported.

    Make sense?

Yes that make sense, because I just have the prime. So the only way that I can get encrypted channels is with WMC? If so that sucks:mad:.

Yes and ***yes*** - it really does suck! The unfortunate truth is that there is very little chance of us ever getting certified by CableLabs - too costly and time consuming, and we don't want to close our source code or restrict our functions (which would be required for CL certification). As a result we will only be able to offer "copy-freely" content, and that will only happen when we can find the time and developer resources to implement it...

That is extremely disappointing to hear. One of the whole reasons I got the HDHomeRun Prime was so that I could -get- encrypted channels with Mediaportal. Guess I won't be using this fantastic software much anymore. :(

    Hi ssrjazz

I'm sorry, but I explained the issues clearly above. A lot of the control is out of our hands.
