MP vs TVEngine&MP (single seat) (1 Viewer)

Sorry to ask such a simple question but I am trying to understand the benefits of using TVEngine&MP (single seat) over MP on its own. In a pure single seat solution are there any performance benefits using TVEngine&MP? Is there additional functionality? is it more stable that just MP? is MP with a TVServer Plugin faster?

Why would I move from MP to TVEngine&MP (single seat)?

I use it because i can record in mpg format instead of dvr-ms..
