Hi

I just installed latest MP and TV server on a fresh vista based computer. I used the one-click install and got the TV-server installed as well.

For me it behaved like it did last time I used TV server with the MP 0.2.3.0 version, that is, starting the MP configuration, TV server configuration and MP it self is very very slow. So I wonder if someone knows why it's like this? If it is something I have done wrongly maybe?

MP it self worked.

Then I uninstalled the TV-server to use the build-in TV instead. The startup-time drasticly improved, as well as starting the MP configuration tool.

However, swithing channels (FireDTV-C) is sometimes very fast but most of the times very slow (but similar to the way it was when I used the TV-server). Also, the screen goes black during switching (which I didn't see before). Is there something I can do about this?

Thanks,
Pidde

PS. Using 2.2GHz dual-core AMD with 2GIG mem and 7600 Nvidia with 32-bit vista.

    HI Pidde.

What do you class as really slow channel switch ? My system takes about 3 seconds to change which is fine i think.
As far as MP is concerned, my experience is that it has always had a " Sluggish slow feel " to it. It's just how it is, but very tolerable...
Also, the type and brand of TV card can make a big difference in channel switching speed.
Me personally i am staying away from Vista for a HTPC because it requires a fairly beefy system in the first place. I have Vista on my PC but it is running a Quad Intel CPU and 2 gig ram with Sli graphics.. It runs fine but would be a MASSIVE overkill for a HTPC. I say stick with WinXP.

    Hope this helps...

    cheers.

    7 seconds

    Hey,

For me it takes around 7 seconds to switch channel. No zapping here...:D ...I switched a number of times and the CPU does have peeks upto almost 100%. I guess it will go faster once I build a new computer. I was thinking about building with the 780g chipset and a 4850e amd, but lately I reconsidered of using a intel e8400 and a 3650 radeon...just to speed up the general feeling of the system...

    Thanks
    P

 wow just installed tv-server for the first time last night and its really really slow compared to the built in engine.
I suspect sqlserver though, and maybe I just need more ram.
It was really late last night also, so maybe it was a user problem :p

Some system specs would make the guessing a little bit easier :)

Sorry didn't add any specs, haven't really spend that much time using tv-server install so didn't mean to
    raise an issue.

    Quick Specs:
    MP Version : 1.0 RC1
    CPU : Pentium D 915
    TV-Card : Hauppauge PVR-150
    Memory 512MB 667
