Thanks for the info Owlsroost... What are this drivers intended for?

Getting a bit off-topic, but the latest nVidia drivers (260.xx onwards) seem to have stuttering/pausing problems with video playback on some cards/systems. Someone on the nVidia forums suggested that 263.06 Tesla drivers don't have the problems, so I tried them on my system and they fixed the long pauses I was getting sometimes.

so nvidia is now copying the bugs from ATI? ;-) We need a special company just designing cards for HTPC ;-) it seems ati/nvidia never test video playback.

    Tony,

i also use a GT430 and "sorry" but i don´t share the position that the driver are causing the problems.
You can see the difference between all you dshowhelper files. So if i use a well known other TV/HTPC application with the same hardware/codec and design ( TV server on WHS ) TV is running much better as in Mediaportal. So i noticed a big difference by using the patch provided by miroslav. At this moment i use you v56 and the patch from miroslav. It´s not perfect , but defintly better as Alpha 1.2 out of the box. So from my point of view the dshowhelper is the main part for good TV playback. So the development should take care of it.

    /Daniel

Another user of the GT430 here...

I have the 260.99 drivers and v56 dshow. Working very well for live tv, though mixing tv with gui usage is a bit taxing (cpu and gpu are not maxed out).

I'll check out the 263.06 Tesla drivers recommended by Tony when I get a chance.

Maybe there should be a separate GT430 thread?

I didn't say that the drivers were causing all the problems (and I'm running Vista 32bit on my main HTPC - Win 7 may well be different) - I just know that they helped in my case.

When I first swapped to the GT430 (from a 9500GT) it was terrible - lots of dropped frames (200 per hour) and random 0.5 second pauses during video playback. Installing 266.58 drivers didn't help, so I tried 263.06 Tesla and the pauses went away....

I'm just passing on the info in case it might help someone :)

No - it supports GT430 out-of-the-box - I just uninstalled the video driver and ran the 'clean' install option.

I'm running my current dev version dshowhelper :)

O.K. i will just create an image of my running system. Then i will try to use the tesa driver ... although i don´t understand why this driver works with our GT430. So i don´t need hdmi audio. I will try them.

Hopefully we will see a new relase of you dshowhelper soon ;)

In my case (also WinVista 32bit), although there are visible diferences between dshowhelper versions, this exact problem described by Tony (stuttering not shown as dropped frames) behaves exactly the same with all of them. That's why I hope new drivers will help us with this. I remember very well some nVidia driver releases that directly broke deinterlacing, so it's quite easy to think about them to be guilty again... :)

Tony, so running private still-not-seen dshowhelper ah?!!! :) Please! :)

    If you're that desperate, try here ;) - WebSVN - MediaPortal - Rev 27452 - /branches/Accurate_sync/dshowhelper_DWM_mod/releases/

Note: v0062/v0063 are development snapshots, and I haven't posted them before because I'm not convinced they are any better than the earlier versions - but feel free to try them out....
