    Hi Owlsroost,

I dont know if youre already aware of this. Now Im sure you do :)
MEDIAPORTAL - playback related issues caused by ATI Drivers

that thread is totally crap from my point of view, i know there is at least one other user with nvidia card that are experiencing the same .......... so it is not related to the ATi drivers ;)

i can't find any real evidence that all ati cards with 11.02 are suffering that...... if someone can prove that is correct with REAL evidence i'll be happy to make excuses to all the forum ;)

    Hi Tony!

Again big :D for your effort! But with v0074 i have some dropped frames and noisy lines! Please take a look at the screenshots and into the logfiles! For me v0056 is the best working version!

    Best regards

Helios - do you run a single or dual screen system - it's just that the system reported refresh rate - 'Display:' - is 75Hz in the screen caps, which is a bit unusual for an HDMI-connected TV (as in your system specs) ?

Have tried v0074 with 23.9Hz followed by 50Hz media and similar results.
    Screenshot and evr log attached...

OK, thanks. I tried to reproduce the problem last night but I couldn't, so it's a bit hard to debug it....

So can everyone with the problem please post which versions have the problem and which ones don't ?

Also please say if the MP 'automatic refresh rate changer' is set up to go back to a default rate at the end of play or not ?

    Tony

    v005b does'nt have it. v0073 and v0074 do.
Not sure about the versions in between.

Yes I have the MP 'automatic refresh rate changer' set to return to 50Hz as a default.

I think the 'automatic refresh rate changer' default may be a factor.

Just had the issue again and I had left the stats onscreen between media changes and I swear the gui was only refreshing at 25 Hz instead of 50 between playing the 24Hz media and the 50Hz. Sorry no logs but will try and capture this again to verify (that I'm not imagining it)

As far as I can work out from the posts so far, the common factors are:

    1. The default refresh rate is 50Hz

    2. If 50Hz material is played first (after MP startup) then everything is OK

    3. If 24Hz material is played first then subsequent 50Hz material has bad stuttering, which can only be fixed by re-starting MP

    4. The refresh rate is always automatically changed back to 50Hz default after each play

Everyone - is this a good summary of the situation ?

    Hi Tony!

System specs are updated ! It's a dual screen system! Monitor 1 is a Syncmaster 226BW @ 75HZ!

that is exactly what appens to me, just it happens also if 24p in not the first one...... eg: tv start, stop, start 24p m2ts, stop, start tv.......

That's good summary... I'll try to test disabling default refresh rate in changer, and see differences.

Two logs attached, same test done (first mkv 24hz, then sd/hdtv 50hz), same behaviour as detailed in above posts:

    - dshowhelper v73, default refresh rate not set.
    - dshowhelper v74, default refresh rate set to 50hz.

I don't attach screenshots, as they are showing same as posted above by other friends here.

v55b is still the best here. Also last versions are showing very little and constant spikes in lines, while v55b is quite flat.

    bye!

YES!!! Now I see the same stutter I was referring to 2 pages agoo. :) I knew I wasnt going mad. :)
Step no. 3 shows the EXACT stutter I was looking at. It is influenced, I thought, by the de-interlacing setting. Ill test if its actually true.

Thanks for getting my sanity back :)

    [edit]
rectify: I cant seem to get consistant results... will test more..

    [edit2]
With my system it seems to be random. Most of the times I dont see thie issue. Rarely so. Im confused. Im using v73 at the moment.

Yes, I suspect it maybe a timing issue - hence the problem only happens sometimes on some systems.

Just to try and narrow things down, attached are two versions to try - the 'full_DWM' version has the DWM reset done as early as possible after play has stopped, the 'no_reset_DWM' version has the DWM reset disabled completely. Can anyone with the stutter problem please try both and report back ?
