    Hello,

I've been using MP1 RC2 for a while with no problems. Recently the Configuration tool wouldn't launch - I'd get a windows error, but MP launched OK.

I decided to update to RC3, installed it, but now neither launches - I just get a windows report error and it fails to launch.

Please help!! :D Log attached below

    MediaPortal.xml not found

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Appdata\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

if you cut'n'paste that in your address bar, is there a mediaportal.xml there, if there is try renaming it to mediaportalold and try running config now, you will lose some of your settings, just redo them.

    How about in this folder?

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

Not on xp there should not be any other location, unless you overwrote a very old version, then the files would be in the program files\team-mediaportal\mediaportal folder, you may have to uninstall and then reinstall, take it this is a admin account you are using.

Yes its an admin account - I've uninstalled amd re-installed many times, and no avail!

Same thing happens - it starts to load, I see the splash screen, it goes through all the settings i.e. config, loading filters etc. Everytime it gets as far as Audio Filters it crashes to a windows error!!

    Will try another install!

...do I need to install the TV Server - cause up to now I haven't been?

I would use TVServer if i had both DVB cards you have got.

Use ffdshow for audio filter, much better than MPA.

If you use filmerit (link in sig) does it show any errors.

Think you may have to do a search of you hdd to see if there is a mediaportal.xml hidden anywhere it should not be, because if this is corrupt then you will never get MP to work.

Are there any config files at the above locations that myself and rekenaar pointed too, should be a few folders and various xml's.
