Just trying out MP2 for the first time with the 2.1 preview. Looks awesome btw. Can't find a option to make the screensaver blank the screen, the only thing that seems to happen is the screen gets dimmed and a Mediaportal logo appears in the middle of the screen. This is no good for a plasma tv.

Is there an option to change this or is it planned?

    Thanks

I think this could be realized easily, we just would need to add an option with a black background.
Question is how many people have a plasma screen. @HTPCSourcer @Brownard what do you think?

There may be quite a number of plasma screens left - I also have one;). So indeed, the implementation should be easy.

I'll set this thread to "approved"

Rather than displaying a black picture, we better truly blank the screen. This makes no difference for a plasma but LCDs would benefit from reduced energy consumption.

mm, please read the complete thread before answering off-topic? ;)

Displaying a black screen or blanking the screen does not make any difference for a plasma.

Did read the full thread, but misread your post - sorry.
Thought you said blacking/blanking (compared to static logo/screen) makes no difference for a plasma, and only helps with LCD power saving. Hence the comment about burn in.
    Sorry again.

"Blank screen" is already fully achievable :). See Wiki entry about Windows power settings and their use in MediaPortal 2 to realize the desired behavior.

There will therefore be no separate explicit blank screen option in MediaPortal 2. I am setting this feature request to "rejected" ;).
