Im sure I'm going to feel really stupid when I figure this out but I have been looking all around for how to setup the mediaportal 2 server for tv tuners, ect. and I can't find anything. I see the information on how to do it in mediaportal 1, but it seems to be different in MP2 as there is no server tv setup application that I can find. All I have is the Server, the service monitor and the client.

Oh ok I see MP2 doesn't have tv built in out of the box. From what I see in that thread that solution doesn't seem to be fully baked. Would it be better to just run MP1 instead for now? Just some info on my setup- I currently just have an old analog tv tuner that really is next to useless, however I have a ceton infinitv 4 on the way along with a cablecard coming from my cable company, which is what I will be using with this setup. I really don't want to have to pay microsoft for MCE in win 8.

For you, I'd probably recommend MP1. As it says in the linked thread:
    Known Issues
    • ATSC support can be considererd as broken, as the code part is "work in progress" and not finished.

    ATSC includes CableCARD.
The latest Native TV build does in fact include CableCARD tuner support (previous builds did not) so you can try it if you want to. There are definitely some significant improvements over MP1/TVE3 CableCARD. Particularly in terms of stability. However, as far as I know nobody (I really mean nobody) has tested it yet, so there could be quite a few issues. That's why I recommend MP1 for now.

PS: By the way, welcome!!! :)
