Hi,
Complete newbie here - this is my first HTPC build using a 780g chipset board with Vista Home Premium 32bits.
Media Portal looks amazing - I cannot believe the guys + gals behind it are doing such an amazing job.

I have downloaded the latest version of the MP portal yesterday and trying to get low CPU usage I copied the MPCVideoDec.ax file to the c:\windows\system32 folder and then did a regsvr32 from the cmd prompt - but I get the following error

The Module "C:\windows\system32\MPCVideoDec.ax" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code .....

I searched the forums and saw someone else with the same error but they say 'nvm fixed it'
I dont know what nvm means.

Can someone tell me how to fix this problem?

Many Thanks!

Thanks for that - was not aware of it - I am a complete newb to all this. Have tried to read as much as I can but also itching to get the HTPC up and running!

I have already installed KMPLayer and its codecs and Media Player Classic HC version which probably installed some more of its codecs too.

Will uninstalling KMPLayer remove all of its codecs etc?

Or would I better off reinstalling Vista and just installing MediaPortal and the stuff from the link you mention in your post?

 oops - as my user has admin rights I did not think to use the run as admin bit - I am not a Vista user - still use XP on my other machines.

Thanks - will try this tonight.:)

Thanks - that was the problem.

Was able to play a couple of file using MP built in player with around 5% CPU usage - top stuff!

I have a couple of other issues...

1) When I start up Media Portal - it waits a few seconds for the TV Server to start up - but I dont have a TV Card installed yet. Is there anyway of stopping it from waiting for the TV server? I went through the advanced setup and there was a tick box for TV but it was greyed out and I could not disable it.

2) I specified the Daemon tools lite exe for handling the ISO files but when I then try to play an iso file through the Movie list it gives me an invalid device error.

I will read the manual when I get the time but if these are easy ones to fix - I would appreciate an answer - I get soo little time to spend on messing with my PC (wife and kid are very demanding;) )

1,) Don't use a tv card either, so can't help you there. Did you choose "yes" upon install to the Q: "will you watch tv with mediaportal?" Are you sure it's waiting for tv server... perhaps it's just MP that's loading, dunno??

2,) No clue. I'm not using any image files.

Have you disabled secure mode in Daemon Tools? Regarding the TV-Server I think you used to be able to chose not to install it but not anymore unfortunately.

You can install MP without TV, have just done so by selecting no to TV on install.

Just uninstall the TVServer + plugin under add\remove programs.

If you change your mind you can just install the TVServer + TVplugin afterwards.
