I don't know if this was introduced with 1.2.2, but I am now unable to playback mpeg2 files. When I try to play them the audio starts, but no video is played and in Avalon a graphic equalizer shows up like they are being treated as mp3 files. They play fine when opened in Windows Media Player. Any suggestions?

    Hi toricred

Please could you post logs. This problem is far too technical to be able to deal with without full information about what is going on.

    Log Files - MediaPortal Wiki

Please follow the instructions for reproducible problems. When you get to the part about reproducing the problem, just play 15 seconds of an MPEG file.

So there is a minor problem with getting the logs. When I am seeing the problem it is in the MP TV Series and 4TR Recorded TV plugins. These aren't active in debug mode. It turns out that it works fine when I access it from Videos. I simply hadn't tried from there before. Does this mean I need to work with the developers of those two plugins?

Should mpeg be working in these plugins? I am not certain if it worked in 1.2.1 before as I am not certain I tried it before.

    Hi again

The MediaPortal logs show that a video codec is added. The problem seems to be that either the codec, the splitter or the renderer don't like the video format - the renderer shows:

Scheduling sample from the past (68.84 ms, last call to NotifyWorker: 0.33 ms, Queue: 0)

...or something to that effect constantly.

If I were you first thing I would do is simply try a different codec for MPEG 2 video. You've already got the FFDShow and Microsoft DTV-DVD codecs which I think are both reasonable choices. Note that the FFDShow codec also has an internal MPEG video decoder library selection. In my experience sometimes libmad does not work where libavcodec does... and vice-versa. If those options all don't work then you can try the LAV codecs which are available from the MediaPortal Extension Installer (shortcut on your desktop).

I have already tried the Microsoft and LAV decoders. I'll try ffdshow in the morning and hope for the best.

    EDIT:

Well I have now tried FFDShow and have the same problem. I am guessing maybe the splitter is the issue as LAV included a splitter. What is the recommended splitter?
