This looks very promising! For the GUI side of things can you have the plugin support fanart like moving pictures? Currently I use streamedMP skin with moving pictures and use the fanart layout. A skin to support this feature with your plugin would be great.

Keep up the good work! :D

In terms of the images.

An image for each platform on the platform selection screen (think the main mp-tv series screen)
This will show the name of the platform, a description about it and the number of games currently assigned to it.

Once a platform is selected you wil proceed to view the games for it, Each will have a genre (genre filter possibly), a description, a box-art image, and 2 or so screenshots. Background image on this screen will relate to the platform as oppose to the game i feel, because there's not a lot of high-res images out there for emulated games that would work for a "fan-art" bg for each title. But certainly we have enough people around to manage fan-art type images for the console/platform

On selecting the game title, it starts.

Still open to suggestions and things to incorporate.

Sounds great. I think there should be a option to incorporate fan art for at least pc games though, those should be easy to find.

    Great stuff.
Sounds like the background image of the console may be the only way to go for emulated games. I agree that there probably isn't much in the way of nice pictures around for all the emulated stuff.
Pc games should have lots of stuff around, and if it isn't I wouldn't mind creating some, so maybe a feature to add your own fanart? (obviously I would share it with anyone that wants it.
One thing that I am wondering is about game pad configs. I use two Xbox style 360 pads for the pc, but I use Xpadder for them. It is totally configurable so that you can change button configs depending on what game you want to play. If the game is a certified windows game all the buttons work straight out of the box.
It would be nice if when you load a game you could put in the config what profile would be put into Xpadder or similar, just a thought as I don't know how hard that is to do?

Im also using Xpadder and yes i agree. Implement a way to execute a file like "NES.xpadderprofile" or "NHL.xpadderprofile" depending on what platform and game is selected would be awesome. (but remember that it should also select the "default " profile when ending the game! I'm having one profile to be used in MP "mediaportal.xpadderprofile" and this profile must be executed when ending the game orelse my gamepad wont work in MP anymore... :( )
But still not priority one i think. :)

Didn't know this plugin would supporting emulators but this is very nice.
Good to have all games in ONE place!

Keep up the good work mate! :)

Personally I use two PS3 wireless USB controllers in my emulated games. Ive set-up the emulators themselves to use the buttons on those controllers? Is this not possible with the 360 ones?

I will look at the emulated ones today, but from experience you cant with PC games as one config doesn't suit all games.
That's the main reason for using Xpadder, the profile can map whatever buttons you like to any game (which is great) BUT as Xpadder etc is not a part of media portal this becomes a pain.
To play a PC game I have to close Media portal, check that the right profile is loaded and then relaunch media portal and launch the game. Once the gaming has finished you have to close media portal again to make sure the default config goes back in (otherwise the buttons on the pad don't do as expected in media portal. Its all a bit of a bind really, I would love to integrate that and I am sure that somewhere I have read that people can automatically put a profile into Xpadder on game launch?

Do ALL emulated games use the same buttons or do they get there assignment in say project64 etc for each game? I will look shortly and see.

If there is some sort of option to allow Xpadder config loading then that would be fantastic. The main issue I can think of is this scenario. If you config all buttons for games in the emulator program then they probably will need the default loaded in Xpadder? If there is a game profile in there I would imagine that may throw the config out for the emulator settings?
Some testing required I think, a gaming day:D no complaints about that lol.

    Will report back shortly

Well, Its been a GREAT morning on the N64 games lol. So thanks for that :D

It seems that no matter what profile is loaded in Xpadder, N64 keeps its default 360 profile.

So the only real issue is the PC games. The only thing that would be needed is in the game config for PC games. If there could be a way of a check box, when launching this game send a profile to Xpadder. If that button is checked then there could be a greyed out box become active with a browse button. You could browse for the correct profile and thats it. The only invisible part would be to set Xpadder back to default when the game closes?

Not sure if this is all VERY complicated etc, but if there is someone that could help with this (or maybe you can yourself) it would be a fantastic acheivment!! That would mean full integration of pc gaming with MediaPortal :D

If I can think of anything else I will chip in :D

    :D so far

If it is to any help, and if you are using Multishortcut in MP... You can (in the multishortcut menu of the game) select the destination of a .bat file instead of the game. Then in the .bat file write:
    @echo off
    start "" "C:\Program\Codemasters\GRID\GRID.exe"
    start "" "C:\Program\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xpadder_gamepad_profiler\grid.xpadderprofile"

This will make the game GRID start and also loading the GRID.xpadderprofile!

Problem is still as you said to return to the default file you are using in MP. :(

A solution would be if it could be integrated in Multishortcut (i have made a note in the Multishortcut thread about this) but it would be great if you too could make a note about this in the thread... :)
