Synopsis: Well, after pounding on this for about 14 hours straight I am about to shoot myself and become an alcoholic.

I got MediaPort to recognize my card, but then it asks for my DVB-T region during the setup wizard. First, United States isn't listed int he default DVBT.XML file!??!? Second, I don't even want to use DVB-T. I want to watch cable TV on my PC, not over-the-air stuff. After searching, I don't see anyone mentioning the lack of a region for a country a few-jillion high-tech people frustrating and odd, I need to lay the sword down before I kill someone.

HEEELLLPPP MEEE!!!!!!

Dont use the wizard then, its not the only way to configure mediaportal. If you complete enough of the wizard then quit, next time you run Setup, it should start the proper configuration program.

    Tuner Selection

Okay so I do that and then it tells me it can't find tuning information for CVBS#1

I did somehow manage to add a channel to TV Channels in Media Portal - Setup, and it is called "CVBS#1", with Channel = 250001, Standard = Default, Type = Internal.

I edited the properties and found a motherlode of settings information. I was able to set my country in there and muck with the analog tab a bit. i have no idea how to configure the DVB-x tabs, of if they even need to be configured.

I found the Capture Card stuff and edited the properties of my vid card. The United States isn't listed in there. Is there another Country/Region I can choose that will work as a substitute?

Or is there an easy way to add the correct frequencies to the XML file? An online database? Anything?

You dont have to fill out the dvb tab if you autotune the channels. Though I dont know how much success youll have as I dont think ATSC is fully supported yet (teach you yanks for using a format different to the rest of the work :p)

    Oh Crap

So, basically what I'm hearing is that I went soooo bleeding edge as to cut myself. Bleh.

I kept poking around and figured out XMLTV, and got a valid TV listing with channels and everything, then finally got that into tvguide.xml and got that imported into the app, so I have all the correct channels with the correct 4 letter designations. When I go into the app, it still states it cant get the damned tuning information, but for Channel 99 (Canadian Broadcasting Network CBUT).

So, to scan the Channels don't they have to appear in the listing thingy in the place where you scan the things? With the stuff?

    Tell ya what...

Tell ya what... Get one of the devs in contact with me and I'll work with him/her to get ATSC cards fully supported!

It's an excellent plan thats bound to work.

i'm not from america, so i could be WAY wrong... but i don't think you're using ATSC. ATSC is digital over-the-air TV, not cable. I'm pretty sure people have done what you're trying to do, you'll just need to wait till someone with experience reads this thread :p
