Hi,

Using MP1, with Moving Pictures plugin, for years now,.
Video content centrally stored on a NAS, video databases too like described in this (not supported) wiki (http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/20_Reference/Databases/Central_Database)
Works like a charm.
One thing my currently used Moving Pictures plugin lacks is a search option. Having a large video database (>350 movies) suchs an option would be greatly appreciated.
In comes Moving Pictures 1.3.1 which does provide a search option (found under F9)
To move to Moving Pictures 1.3.1 I need to upgrade to MP2.
But, the multi seat (centralized database) option does not seem to work anymore with MP2. MediaPortalDirs.xml is not there anymore nor gets recognized at MP2 startup.
Any thoughts on this subject?

    Hi,
MP2 is a complete new rebuild and only at alpha stage so far. You will need to go with MP 1.2.3, which is the most recent stable build and working with latest Moving Pictures.

Oops, made a mistake with the MP version number in the original post..
I downloaded and installed MP 1.2.3, not MP2
MP 1.2.3 too does not support centralized databases?

    You're welcome.
By the way, your setup with the centralized database with former version of MP should work the same way with 1.2.3. There shouldn't be any difference at all...
Or, what I do: I maintain my databases at the server and every client just fetches the latest copy on every boot with SyncToy. Watched flags are commited with follw.it. Works like a charm.

    Currently I use MP 1.0.2.0.
Actually, what you say is that the Moving Pictures plugin 1.3.1 does work with MP 1.0.2.0 out-of-the-box?

No, you still need the latest MP build. But the wiki guide you mentioned in your first post should work the same way with MP 1.2.3 as it did with MP 1.0.2.0

Well, that is why I started this thread, it doesn't.
After having installed MP 1.2.3 there was no MediaPortalDirs.xml to be found in C:\Users\All Users\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal.
Putting it there didn't help either.
Maybe the file has been renamed and I have to do the customization elsewhere?

That's because the file has never been there (as far as I remember). As descripted in the guide:
    1. on your MediaPortal PC, browse to the installation folder (usually C:\Program File\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal) and find the file called MediaPortalDirs.xml and copy this to the Folder called Config created in step 2.
