I own many multi-disc albums. They are tagged with same album name but I use the discnumber field to tag which CD it is in the set. Single CD albums are stored as follows:
/genre/artist/album/

Multi-disc albums are stored as:
/genre/artist/album/number/

Currently when I browse by album I see a separate image for each CD in the set. I would like to see just one album icon for multi-disc sets and when I select it I would like to see the disc number. Does this make sense?

How do I go about doing this? How do you guys organize your multi-disc albums without seeing repeats in the album view?

Thanks,
Eric

You may want to try using the "share" view to browse your music... In this way you will browse your library by folder/files rather than ID3 tags, and thus see them listed as /genre/artist/album/number/

FWIW, I too have many multiple-disc albums, but I don't mind seeing them listed as two separate discs. If I want to hear the whole album, I just queue up both discs (just two extra clicks ofthe remote).

Another alternative would be to give both/all discs of an album the same album name, so all tracks would be listed under a single album title. At this point (0.2.2.0 SVN) there is a limitation where we cannot include "disc number" or "media set number" as part of the sort. (see https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=14530)

There's been some mention of a new music organizational system is coming to MP.... I am sure it will offer much more flexibility than the existing system. (Perhaps hwahrmann or someone "in the know" could shed a little light on the status of the new music db?)
