My setup uses a BlackGold receiver which adds an ehome receiver, but I do not actually have the external IR bit, I also have a proper Microsoft Ehome receiver.

It seems MP only listens to one receiver, unforutunatly it chose the non MS one hence meant my remote didnt work.

Since in device manager you cant disable a IR receiver(odd MS feature) I had to force the installation of an unrelated driver to in effect break that receiver.

once rebooted the remote works fine.
