I have a question about how the TV server setup works...

I am new to this so bear with me :)

If I have a server for my TV and storing my data... Then I have 2 media directors... (Thats what I call em as I was looking at Linux MCE as a solution before)...

So, on each media director I want to watch TV separately...

Do I then need 2 TV tuners in the server?
Is yes, do I simply split the digital TV cable in two and hook up to each card?

Thanks for you help...

Not quite sure what you mean.

TVServer installed on one machine can stream TV to multiple clients (PC's) over your network, you would only need tuners in the one PC (your server), and you could have as many tuners as you want (within the limits of your hardware - PCI slots etc.). Recordings should be made to a local hard drive ideally.

One tuner = one channel (although with some cards you can tune to multiple channels on the same transponder frequency)

What do you mean DigitalTV; Satellite, Cable, Terrestrial??. Yes you can split the feed, but maybe better to run a new feed if you can, depends on your source, signal quality/strength.

Thanks, I think that answers my question. I was referring to cable btw.

If I wanted to watch the same channel on each client I only need 1 TV tuner. If I want separate channels on each client I need multiple cards... Right?
