Hello there!

I'm currently evaluating Media Portal to see if it will fit my needs in my living room. I currently have a box sitting in a MAME Arcade cabinet chock full of hard disks, tv tuner and two soundcards. One of the soundcards is dedicated to the cabinet itself (and also has a game port which I need).

I've been able to configure Media Portal with its plugins (Video, DVD) to utilize my secondary sound card and it works great. However It seems the main app, when navigating the menu system plays on the 1st (Default) Sound card that is listed in Windows. Another problem is that when I use my remote control or try to control the volume with my keyboard is that it only adjusts the default sound cards volume, and I'd really like to have the ability to select my secondary sound card for this specific purpose.

Thanks, and so far looks great!

I'd very much like this capability as well - my default Windows sound device feeds my TV speakers, but my main hi-fi is connected to a PCI soundcard, and although I can select it in MP's configuration for music playback, I can't use my remote to adjust the volume. I'm using foobar2000 for my audio needs ATM, which can utilise and control any chosen output sound device... of course it's a fabulous piece of software in its own right, but it would be nice to also have the ability to play back everything using the MediaPortal interface.

I'm sure there must be many people with a similar setup, but unfortunately it seems that this function won't appear until MP2, if then. :(

Surely it can't be that complicated to implement... ?

Hi everybody... I need a similar thing!

I just need to be able to set DEFAULT AUDIO RENDERER DEVICE for ALL Mediaportal. For now I'm able to set the audio output for movies, TV, music... but not for all the application Mediaportal. I use and integrated audio device in my motherboard, and I use analog output for desktop speakers and digital output for HTPC (and Mediaportal) use. So, in Vista 32bit Ultimate, if I set digital output and after launch Mediaportal everything will be good. But if I leave speakers (analog) output, and by config use digital output for DVD (for example), while I'm watching DVD or listen music, when I use remote or when computer alert me for something (MSN contact online, Antivirus updated), the audio switch to speakers and my digital output become mute. So I have to stop media, and play again.

I tried to use an external program: Vista Audio Changer (Vista Audio Changer :: Home) but it doesn't work fine for me... with this, u can monitor processes and when u launch Mediaportal, it switch to your preferred audio device (for me digital output) and then start Mediaportal. But sometime it fails! I'm not happy of this software.

Media-Portal Team, according to me the solution is simple: in config u need to add a dialog for which AUDIO RENDERER DEVICE is the preferred default... as u can do for DVD, TV, Music... or as u can do for the monitor selection!

Thank u for this fantastic software! Good work!
