I am trying to set up MP for the first time.
I have multiple sound cards and have currently set my PC to one card (also set as default sound device in control panel - sounds and audio devices), in MP I have set Movies & DVD to output to a second sound card from MP config -> Video Player -> Audio Renderer (sound goes to amp in other room) and have set Music to a third sound card in MP config -> Music -> Sound device (sound goes to speakers outside house).
When I start up MP with the above settings I get no sound during video playback, or in main skin, haven't tried music yet.
If I set my second sound card as the default sound device in control panel - sounds and audio devices and then restart MP I can get sound from amp as wanted during video playback.
I don't want to set my second sound card as windows default though. Is there something I am missing in setup or is this all it can do?
Also I haven't tried yet as at work but if I were to write a batch file to switch the sound cards registry before and after MP first loads would this solve my problem or does it have to stay set to the same sound card the whole time?
