Multiple Tuners (Mappings, Merging or Combining) - Issue (1 Viewer)

MS Windows Media Center will scan with one Tuner (any available tuner) but combine all such that if one Tuner is busy when you try to record it will roll over and record on the next available Tuner.

MediaPortal only wants to record on the Tuner a channel was scanned and found on. If Tuner-1 is busy it will not go to Tuner-2 or Tuner-3 to record. It will just say "Unknown Error" meaning no Tuner available or Tuner busy.

How do I fix this..? I have three tuners and would like for MP to record on whatever tuner is available. Advise please..! Thanks.

hi,

You need to map all of the channels you scanned to the other 2 tuners. Start the TV Server Config program, select each tuner, select the "available channels" in left column, and use the ">>" button to move the channels to the "channels mapped to card" in right column. Repeat for all of your tuners. See the following in wiki.

Tried that as suggested but found nothing on left side for either card. Channels show up on right side for all three cards. Next suggestion...

if all 3 of your tuners have the same channels mapped then you are probably seeing a different problem and log files will be needed to help understand the problem.

Try recording 1 show, make sure the recording has started then start a 2nd recording for a different show/channel. Save and upload the log files to another message in this tread, indicate the channels and times for the recordings so we know what/when you ran the test. See the following for info on getting log files. Option 3 for "Export Current logs"
