Hi gang,

Sorry for the cross post but I am dead in the water here. My music database does not build correctly... (See below for explaination). So I am still using other products for my HTPC (Meedio, Winamp, Foobar, etc). I would like to move exclusively to MP. I do not know if the picture DB is building correctly or not.

***********************************************************************************
From previous post...

I have an issue that I am struggling with right now and some help would be appreciated.

I am having problems with the music database in 2.2.0 and 2.3.0 RC1.

The music database becomes corrupted (actually does not build correctly) and list of symptoms follows: (All of the files are flac and use flac tags)

1. Anywhere from one to half a dozen album or more no longer display their artist tag data but display unknown.
2. Songs appear under a different artists name
3. Album art shows up under the wrong album
4. etc etc etc

I have checked the tags and they are fine, the data shows up correctly in Meedio (yeah I know very old), Winamp, Foobar, etc with no problems.

I have repeatedly deleted the database and rebuilt, completely deleted mediaportal and reinstalled it all to no avail.

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Thanks,

JMS

PS. Amazing piece of work by the way!!! I fell in love with the Bass engine in Meedio and continue to love it in MP :)

Will fill in the details asap...

Please rebuild the database from MP configuration and post configuration.log.
should contain error messages, if there are any.

Attached are the logs from a fresh rebuild of the DB...

Let me know if I can supply any additional information, thanks.

This is truly a fantastic package and we will work through my little database issue. When I get this resolved then I will ditch the others WooHoo!!!

THis link in this support area is very similar to what I am experiencing

don't see any error message in the log.
need to have a look to some of your files.
    i would need:
    - 1 file which is displayed ok
    - 2 files, from different albums, which don't appear

use a free file hoster and send me a PM with the links to download the files

    Database issue is fixed!!!!

    Database issue is fixed!!!!

I have 6063 flac files and approx 2800 were not registering correctly in MP (they were fine in Meedio Winamp etc.)

I ended up rewriting the tags on all 6063 file and that took care of the problem. The files were meticulously tagged but apparently there was some incompatibility so this took care of it...

    I am very happy!!!

I found the error in reading the flac tags.
i wasn't clearing the high order part of a byte and therefor getting wrong information.
will be fixed in one of the next svns. check out the change log.

    FANTASTIC SOFTWARE!!! FANTASTIC SUPPORT!!!

I appreciate your help. I am meticulous about tagging but I did use two different tagging packages (plus EAC). So one of them is the culprit however the one the fixed the problem is Tag & Rename so not all taggers are the same. You might put out a recommendation for one that you like as well.

Problems like this are what makes the software more robust. I am going to switch over completely to MP and will get a donation sent your way.

    Thanks

    thanks for the Flowers. :)

in fact we should take care of most of the different tagging flavours already. the problem is the FLAC is not so widely used as mp3, so there might be still some hidden things.

Very true... I do love flac though but realistically my old ears probably cannot tell the difference in a 192 kbps mp3, a flac file, or a wav file... :)
