Hi

When tagging classical music (yeah, this is a never ending story) I am using the conductor-tag not only for the conductor, but also for the artists, singers etc. beeing involved. As a Separator I am using ";" but it is not being recognized/processed. Are there any plans to add support for multiple conductors?

    Hi

    When tagging classical music (yeah, this is a never ending story)

    Have found a perfect solution. Look at this ->
    Code:
    Allgemein
    Complete name                            : \\SERVER-PC\Server N\Musik\Klassik\Alison Balsom (2012) - Kings & Queens - Purcell · Händel\10 - Händel · Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne HWV 74.flac
    Format                                  : FLAC
    Format/Info : Free Lossless Audio Codec
    File size                                : 15,0 MiB

    Album                                    : Kings & Queens - Purcell · Händel
    Album/Performer : Alison Balsom / The English Concert / Trevor Pinnock / Alison Balsom / The English Concert / Trevor Pinnock
    Part                                    : 01/01
    Track name : Händel · Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne HWV 74 - Eternal source of light divine
    Track name/Position                      : 10/26
    Performer : Alison Balsom / The English Concert / Trevor Pinnock / Iestyn Davies
    Composer                                : Georg Friedrich Händel
    Conductor                                : Trevor Pinnock
    Genre                                    : Klassik
    Recorded date                            : 2012
    Cover                                    : Yes
    Cover type                              : Cover (front)
    Cover MIME                              : image/jpeg

    Audio
    Format                                  : FLAC

    Bit rate                                : 582 Kbps
    Channel(s)                              : 2 Kanäle
    Sampling rate                            : 44,1 KHz
    Bit depth                                : 16 bits
    Stream size                              : 14,9 MiB (99%)
    Writing library                          : Flake#0.1

    As a Separator I am using ";" but it is not being recognized/processed. Are there any plans to add support for multiple conductors?

    Try 'pipe separator' in MPTagthat -> | or with MP3Tag double backslash \\

    Best regards

    Thank you for the answer! Your solution works perfect in MP, but there are some problems for me:
    - my pop music is tagged only using the artist-tag. when browsing my music database to search an classical performer/artist i get all the pop-artists in the list. The solution would be to re-tag my pop music... but come on ;-)
    - a lot of mp3-software does not support the composer tag, this is annoying but thats the way it is. so on my portable device i would not be able to browse my classical music

    So using the Conductor tag would be the perfect solution for me, but everyone has to find his own perfect solution like you did ;-)

    Back to topic:
    I tried all the separators like ";" "\\" "|" but they are not being processed. In the artist- and composer-field the separator ";" works well for me and is beeing recognized by mediaportal. Maybe in MP the Conductor-Tag is not beeing processed the same way like the artist- or composer-tag?

    Ok, I cleaned up the music database and added only two songs with the conductor field tagged as:
    "Krystian Zimerman;Polish Festival Orchestra"
    After that i stated MP and played the songs. Logfiles attached ;-)

    The Conductor is a field which doesn't support multiple values.
    I've never seen a classical concert with more than 1 person being the conductor. :)

    You should use the AlbumArtist and Artist field for such purposes.

    I know that there are several possibilities to solve this "problem" (1. world problem obviously).
    Right now I am using the (please don't laugh) composer-field for the conductors/artists.
    I browse my music as follows:
    Genre-->Album Artist-->Album-->Track
    e.g.
    Classic-->Frédéric Chopin Complete Edition-->Complete Works CD (01)-->Etude C Major

    So on mobile devices i can search for Chopin and get what i want (many devices/programs still don't support composer-tag).

    To search for conductors/musicians i browse the music as follows:
    Composer-->Artist-->Track
    e.g.
    Kristina Zimmermann-->Frédéric Chopin-->Piano Concerto I don't know

    This all works well for me, but i would prefere to use the conductor field to add the artists.
    However, if it is not possible to process multiple conductors I am fine with my solution ;-)
