Music DB (2 Viewers)

I'm using a Windows 7 box as a TV server that streams TV to 3-4 pc's around the house. It's also used to store all my music, videos, photos etc. If I setup the music database on that, can the clients then read from that db, or do they each have to have their own, local database setup?

Hi Tomma123.

MP clients have their own databases by default. There are a couple of options to centralise the db's but one is unsupported as it runs the risk of corrupting databases. See the Wiki here:

The other option is the SyncMP plugin found here:

Can't give you any advice on either though, as I haven't actually used them!

Thanks for the links SimondusMaximus. If I'm understanding correctly I think the SyncMP tool does just that, it keeps the MP databases in sync as opposed to pointing all the clients to one set of common db's.

So, I may play around with the unsupported option, sounds pretty straightforward.
