Hi
I have a yamaha receiver that is sent analouge input for music from a xonar sound card (default device) for outputting to other 'zones' and video/TV audio via HDMI (default communication device).

music via win medai player 11 works fine (apart from being a bit flat)
video / TV from MP works fine

music from MP causes MP to freeze unless xonar is only active playback device (or HDMI if sent that way - ie other devices disabled in win 7 controls). Output device is specifically selected in MP config.

I have another client on the system that plays audio from this server wihout any issues.

comments appreciated.

I would say it is some issue with the BASS library we are using.

I have the exact same problem with my Xonar HDAV1.3. The logs are identical to the ones posted above.

    EDIT: Here we go:

    2010-05-05 20:07:20.926513 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: g_Player: ended
After disabling every playback unit except the xonar analog output itself I managed to get these errors. Looking at these logs I would say tourettes is right. The error seems to be inside BASS itself.

Is there anyway to go around bass and use something else?

EDIT2: Tried using the latest version of bass.dll, no success.

EDIT3: After looking at the BASS forums, I'm getting more certain that this is actually a driver issue. Asus are known for writing bad drivers and too stupid to acknowledge their mistakes. I've had multiple conversations with Asus support team about various issues with my Xonar HDAV1.3 and all has ended with "It's a feature not a bug" or "This might be added in a future version of the drivers."

If anyone managed to get a Xonar card working with BASS running win7 64bit or vista 64bit, please post here!

EDIT4: Here's a thread where the problem was solved. Unfortunately it didn't work for me.
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/listen-music-99/new-asus-xonar-now-theres-no-playback-crash-76808/

EDIT5: Solved! It actually helps turning ON GX DS3D from the xonar control panel! I have no idea why, but atleast we know now that it is driver related.

EDIT6: Last one, promise! What actually looks like turning on GX DS3D turns it off. If shaded grey, GX DS3D is ON. If white and lit up, GX DS3D is off. Stupid Asus. So when I thought I had it off it was really on and vice versa. Other playback devices can be enabled again.

    Thanks Olafett & tourettes,

I updated my xonar driver to 7.12.8.1777 (I know I should have dome this before.........) and now BASS works well AS LONG AS DS3D is turned off in the xonar control center. If it is turned on MP still freezes.
    :)
