    Hello

I have been using MediaPortal for a while and am really happy about my setup.
Recently I changed my graphics adapter to an ATI 4650 with HDMI interface. Unfortunately, this has introduced an annoying feature which I hope somebody can help me get rid of.

My MediaPortal computer is connected to my Denon amp with COAX for sound and with HDMI for video. The amp is then connected with HDMI to the Samsung LCD display. When I listen to music on MediaPortal, I like to turn off the display - no reason for it to stay on and consume all that power :)
However, when I turn of the LCD, MediaPortal stops the music after a few seconds. If I turn on the TV again, MediaPortal is still in the same music folder, but it has stopped playing (like hitting the STOP button on a cd-player).
I tried using a DVI-->HDMI converter, but this gives the same result.
If I use a VGA cable, it works fine - but then I need an extra cable to the TV which I would rather avoid.
Today, I tried exiting MediaPortal, starting Windows Media Player and some random music - and then turning off the TV. Surprisingly, the music kept playing. So, what I thougt was some handshaking problem between my Samsung TV, Denon receiver and ATI graphics adapter, turns out to be an issue related to MediaPortal.

This fact makes me happy, because then there is a chance that I can configure my way out of the issue.
    Question is HOW?

If anybody could help me out with that, he or she would unlock an instant achievement :D

Thanx in advance for any help at all.

08.02.2010 - No responses yet. Are there no hints I could try to fix this issue? That is, apart from going back to a VGA connnection :)

it looks like you have configured audiorenderer in MP as HDMI audio - then, i guess, you will hear sound only if connected hdmi device is on. Try to change it to your sound card output that has coax out.
or if you already have sound card as audiorenderer - then try to set it to hdmi audio out. I don't know how your denon receiver works, but i can imagine it plays sound only in one case - either when signal comes with hdmi, or when from coax in. So try both possibilities to find out which one will work for you.

Vasilich, could you point me to the exact place in MP Config where you think this setting is?

I don't want to hijack Sgatke's thread, but I have exactly the same issue. Same kind of set-up using an amp for sound using spdif, HDMI for video. I checked for the audio renderer setting. The sound card is selected as output, so no HDMI is selected for sound output.

So I'm curious about Sgatke's findings on his set-up, I guess he also hasn't selected HDMI for sound output ;)

Sorry for not posting back earlier.
You are right, I have not selected HDMI for sound output.

I am still looking for a solution to this problem. I would very much like to be able to switch off my tv set while I listen to music :)

Vasilich, thank you for your input.
I went through all options in MP Config, but there is nowhere I can see anything selected with HDMI.
Please not that my audio works fine and that I know for a fact that the audio is coming from my COAX connection (at least, that is what my Denon receiver tells me).
Can you tell me EXACTLY where in MP Config you think this audio renderer should be? I am 99,9% sure that I have absolutely nothing related to HDMI set in my MP Config...
I think Chielmi is having the same issue :)
