Hello All,

I have had a good search through all of the Forums tonight to find out whether there is a Media Portal plugin which will allow me to create a playlist of Music Videos.

What I'm keen to do is record the music channel onto a "ts" file and then use a utility to cut it up into individual named music video files and then create a playlist of this. The ultimate would be to have a jukebox type tool within Media Portal to play the clips and allow people to select some of the songs.

This would be wicked for a party!!

I found this thread in relation to an editing tool within Media Portal:

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...eoeditor-edit-your-recordings-within-mp-7426/

This tool is on a very old thread so I'm not sure if there is a more up to date tool, especially since Version 1 has just been released.

I have recording 3 hours of 80's music tonight and I'm keen to get working on this, so any help appreciated.

Thanks

Graham

Once you have your files separated individually, you can create a playlist very easily, just select the file and add it to a playlist. You might need to add the file extension as a recognised type in My Videos.

Have you seen the MVids plugin, this thing is a fantastic way to manage music videos, I use it everyday. This allows you to sort music by artist, tone, genre, recently added etc.

Had a 60s party a month or two back, with about 5 hours of 60s video on the big screen, schweet!

    Hi Druid9,

I came across the MVids tool when searching the forums and could not find it again, so thanks for that - sounds like the best option :D

I'm still after the best tool to create individual files from a single "ts" file - any ideas?? OR a site to download music videos for free if possible - but I really want good quality. Any ideas?

Also, what file format are your videos in?

Thanks again for the reply - much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Graham

My videos are in a variety of formats, depending on source, but predominantly .avi and .mkv

To separate files from a .ts file I would first convert to .avi - maybe google MCE Buddy, it is very easy to use, just monitors a folder and converts any .ts files it finds there.

Once in .avi format, I would use Solveig Trimmer to cut the file up, again easy to use.

As for sites, probably best not to talk about those here. The hosts of this forum are quite strict on such matters.

    Hi,

Been meaning to get back to you. I found Windows Movie Maker pulled in the "ts" file fine and previewed it, however when I published it, I only seemed to get a portion of the picture. I have seen this before and think it has something to do with the fact that I'm recording a 1080i (interlaced) TV channel. I also used MCEBuddy as you suggested, but it did not seem to change the file format as you mentioned.

I'm now wondering if there is a site I can download some good quality 80's music videos (as opposed to streaming it) .... hopefully for free. Any ideas? I was also thinking of torrent sites.

    Cheers

In MCE Buddy, you can change the output file type. I believe it uses mencoder to do the job. Works fine for me, if you still have trouble, I will post a screenie of my MCE Buddy setup screen to illustrate.

By the way, one of our aussie music shows had an eighties morning last Sunday, Bros, Dire Straits, Jimmy Barnes, lots of stuff.

Torrents could work (don't myself), mostly cut up recorded TV files.

    Hi,

I would appreciate some screen shots of MCEBuddy if you do not mind as the ts format I cannot seem to edit in any software. Also, if you would not mind loading up the files as well with setup instructions, that would be great and useful for other users that might be reading this forum or have similar issues.

I came across a product tonight called H264tscutter in geekzone.co.nz which from reading the forums sounded exactly like what I needed, but unfortunately it again could not read the file in. Other have had sucess with it though.

    It's all a bit frustrating.

    Cheers

If I can work out how to do it, here is my screenie of MCE buddy

Google MCE Buddy and you will find the link

I should also add that the service needs to be stopped before you can edit the options
