Hi,

I'm using very latest SVN but have been using MP for over a year. In all that time, I have NEVER got Winamp vizualisations to work - and that's installing on three different PCs, with and without TV cards. with and without TVE3, and using several versions of Winamp with Milkdrop 1 and 2.

I'm only posting this now because I'm losing the will to live - everything works now, except this.

As soon as I even open the tab where you configure visualisations and hit the dropdown list, I get this:

************** Exception Text **************
System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at MediaPortal.Visualization.VisualizationManager.GetWMPPluginInfo()
at MediaPortal.Visualization.VisualizationManager.GetVisualizationPluginsInfo()
at MediaPortal.Visualization.VisualizationManager.get_VisualizationPluginsInfo()
at MediaPortal.Configuration.Sections.Music.InitializeVizEngine()
at MediaPortal.Configuration.Sections.Music.MusicSettingsTabCtl_SelectedIndexChanged(Object sender, EventArgs e)
at System.Windows.Forms.TabControl.OnSelectedIndexChanged(EventArgs e)
at System.Windows.Forms.TabControl.WmSelChange()
at System.Windows.Forms.TabControl.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

I've tried Winamp visualisations as per the extensive threads here and still cannot get them to work. I've also tried Sonique ones; according to a blog on the web they should work OOTB.

So, does anyone have a definitive way of getting this to work - even if it involves XML hackery?

    The only thing you need to do is copying the vis into:
    musicplayer\plugins\visualizations

    then they should work out of the box

    Hi,

    I'm new with MP and i do not know either how to mahe visualizations work.
    When you say :

    The only thing you need to do is copying the vis into:
    musicplayer\plugins\visualizations

    what exactly is "vis" ?
    Is it A file, a folder ?

    Could you give me a concrete exemple of how to get a "vis", how to install it, and then, how to use it in MP ?

    If the information has already been delivered and i missed it ... :sorry:

    ok, didn't see this thread : Winamp Visualisations. Finally :)

    vis = visualizations

    Can be found: Visualizations for Windows Media Player
    After install: X:\Programfiler\Windows Media Player\Visualizations
    Copy to: X:\Programfiler\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MusicPlayer\plugins\visualizations

    In setup: Music (no submenu) -> Tab: visualizations
    Select and configure :)

    Edit: I hope/think this works. I haven't used vis in a while, and my test PC is messed up (Haali tries to open my music files :confused:)

    Mark: Doing the above made my HTPC unresponsive ... :sorry:

    Try NOT to copy the .DLL

    Seems to only need install, as I find it in setup. Could not give it a try as HTPC is occupied (family :))

    EDIT: OK - not copying and all is well. (Test PC works again :))

    Dude . that is not new , it's been doing that for me for ever. The vis works fine and randomly or after i have watched a movie file it closes MP with no errors.

    the ONLY Vis that works for me is Windows media player default vis.
