If want to use external players. Will new 1.3 have option to select 2 different external video players depending on the type of video file?

Example, right now I use Zoomplayer for most of my video files as it has so may configurable options I really like it so I want to use it for dvd, avi, video_ts, etc. files.

I found that my cyberlink BD version plays bluray video files not better per say, but has all settings "ready to go" for bluray type videos (codecs, audio, video, etc.) specific for bluray, where as zoomplayer I have to mess around alot with bluray video settings. So I want to set a second external video player to play bluray video files only (.m2ts, index. bdvm, etc.) Is this possible? Thanks

This option isn't available in 1.3Alpha. The goal should be to play all files with the internal player :)

If you really need 2 external players, the only to achieve that now is to use both MovingPicutres & MyVideos. Both have the option to set an external player, so you could (for example) set up PowerDVD for MovingPictures and MPC-HC in MyVideos.

Thread prefix set to NO BUG

I must say I've only tried it tonight, but I haven't been happy with the native bluray player in 1.3a. My big problem is selecting which file/chapter to play. As an example in StarWars Ep1 I always end up playing with commentary; I can't seem to find a way around it.

So I've set both myvideos and moving pictures to go to an external player - powerdvd. But I'm having an issue with powerdvd, and don't know if I should even be asking this here. When the bluray disk shows up in my videos and I select it it opens powerdvd. But when I press play on my remote it opens up a window, something to do with files, or playlists or something. If I close the window and select play it keeps opening that window. But if I eject the dvd, then insert it again it reads the bluray and starts normally. I'm wondering if this may be some issue with mediaportal having already scanned the dvd, or if there is something I could do to get this to work better?

Thanks HomeY, I'll certainly check the autoplay setting. When the popup window came up (with menu, and disk chapter options) and I selected menu, the same popup window re-opened. But I'll check again.

That would suggest my thoughts that it's a JAVA Blu-ray disc (BD-J) and those menus aren't supported (yet). Selecting the first Title should start playback of the main movie.

I've given up on the native player for now. I only have a few bd's but haven't been able to get one to play right yet. And for some reason dvd playback wasn't working right too. So I've gone back too using powerdvd as an external player, but I am definitely having an issue; when I select to play a bd in mediaportal and it opens powerdvd, when I press 'play' it definitely opens up the edit playlist box rather than starting the disk. But if I then open and close the disk draw it starts reading the disk and then playing it fine.

I don't know where to change the autoplay within windows, but if I open and close the disk draw while in windows (not mediaportal) it does nothing. It does not start playing the disk.

And probably a last stupid question, but is there a way to create a button on my remote (harmony 525) that will close a program, so I can be lazy as and when I'm finished watching a movie I can close powerdvd without having to get up and use a mouse to click the little x, which then returns us to mediaportal?

To disable Auto Play (Windows 7):
Open AutoPlay by clicking the Start button
    4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33_47.png
, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking AutoPlay.
In the window that opens you UNcheck the top button that says: 'Use AutoPlay for all media and devices'.

I've got all my Blu-rays stored on my server, so i can't test it with a disc, but i just tried to use PowerDVD 11 as external player in MyVideos, and that works like a charm. As soon as i select the Blu-ray, it opens PowerDVD11, starts loading the disc and starts playback (automatically).

    My settings used:
    External_Player.JPG

A long long time ago i contacted Logitech Harmony support. I asked them to add the Alt + F4 keycombo to my Harmony (MediaPortal) and they did. So maybe give them a call ;)

Please fill in your System Specs and attach log files (see my signature on how to collect those) if you run into more problems.

Thank you for your help Homey. I will give it all a try, and if the issue continues I'll do the logs etc as you suggested. Thanks again

Well I gave it a go again today and was able to reproduce the problem each time, so I got a log file for it. I had my external player set about the same as you HomeY, except I did have something in the exceptions box, but I have removed that and it was still doing the same thing. I have added my system specs to my profile; do you want me to edit them into this post too?

So when I enter MyVideos and then select the bluray disk, it opens powerdvd9 but does not play the disk.
The disk light is not active, and the screen stays on the powerdvd main screen (I left it for over one minute with nothing happening)

After that I try pressing play, but then the edit playlist box opens up, rather than playing the disk

If I open then close the disk draw then powerdvd reads the disk and I can play it.

When I exit powerdvd9 (closing via mouse click on x) I am returned to the MyVideos screen, but if I leave it for say 10secs or so powerdvd re-opens and acts the same as before. In fact, sometimes after the first closing of powerdvd, it doesn't matter if I press any remote buttons (menu, previous, arrows etc) nothing happens but after those few seconds powerdvd re-opens. If I then close it I return again to MyVideos and I can press menu, etc fine.
