The logs don't give me any other clues.

Do you have 'Keep MediaPortal always on top' enabled (MP Config -> General -> Startup/Resume Settings)? If so, try to disable that and try again.
If MediaPortal still has focus after you started PowerDVD9, that might explain why you get the MENU/Title popup when you click play.

I tried that too to no avail. I guess I'll be one of those that just has those little idiosyncrasies within his system. Thanks for all your help.
