Have been testing the MP for a long time on my laptop and are now ready to take the step into the HTPC world. So yestoday and today I ordered the parts for my HTPC project. For now it will control DVDs, Movies, TV, TVSeries, Music and Pictures. In the future it will also be conected to my sattelite dish with a DVB-S card.

My config is:
Asus P5P800-SE
Kingston ValueR. PC3200 DDR-DIMM 1024MB
Intel Pentium 4 640 3.2GHz
Thermaltake Big Typhoon CPU-cooler
Samsung SpinPoint P120S 250GB SATA2 8MB 7200RPM
NEC ND-3550 IDE Black
Silverstone SST-LC16M, Black
Trust 450W Powersupply PW-5200
Labtec Ultra Flat Wireless Desktop
Hauppauge! WinTV-HVR1300MCE KIT

As you can see I have not ordered a graphics card as I already have a ATI Radeon X800 card.

Hopefully the parts will arrive allready tomorrow and the fun can begin.

Most of my music, movies and tvseries are stored at a server connected to my home-network. This is a full tower with a lot of disk space and it's easy to expand.

Images and other information about the HTPC project will be posted as the PC is getting built

Parts arrived

Most of the parts for my HTPC arrived yestoday. Unfortunately my motherboard hasn't arrived yet so I can't do much with it.

Hopefully I can use this sunday putting it all together and get it all installed with Windows SP2 and .NET framework.

Some of the parts will be tested on another computer first to test configuration and se what is the best way to do things.

Pictures of the parts will also be added sunday.

Any comments on my spec?

Motherboard arrived

So... Yestoday my motherboard arrived by mail.
Unfortunately I haven't been much at home for the last few days so no pictures have been taken yet. Hopefully I can do all this today and start building the HTPC and maybe install WinXP.

Problems inside

Well... Got a bit of a problem with some of the parts. The DVD Burner and gaphics card crashes inside the cabinet. The problem is that the fan of the grapichscard is aboit 1.5 cm to big... So to solve the problem I tracked down a DVD burner that is shorter than the NEC. A new Sony will solve the problem. It's about 2.5cm shorter.
Hopefully this will arrive today.

For now I have installed Windows XP SP2 and .Net framework. Will continue the installationprocess today. More pictures will also be added. After the HTPC is up and running I will make a page describing the job and what I have done.
