Hello to everyone!
I stumbled upon MediaPortal, so my old pc is going to become my "new" HTPC for family.

I have:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 650 - 3,4ghz + freezer pro 7 (silent and quite good)
MOBO: asus p5wd2
GPU: asus 6800 256mb + zalman cu (silent and good)
RAM: 2gb ddr2 667
HDD: Seagate 72''.11 500gb
DVD: LG 4167
PSU: silent 12cm 420w no brand
OS: Windows XP SP2 + Leopard

Next buy:
CASE: Silverstone LC17S or similar.
I know about problems with long video cards, but i have only one HD so i can use the right basket. Correct?
TV CARD: see below, please.

Functions I intend to use: MP obviously + Sky from set top box. DVB-T is good, but not necessary.

1)
a)what is the best solution to capture and see Sky? Now, with an old WinFast Tv2000 Xp Fm, I see the CVBS signal but it's slowed down and with bad quality.
b)Something like "WinTV-HVR-1300 mce kit" is good?
c)In general, what is the best solution for external signal?
d)Is it important an hardware MPEG-2 encoder for registration?
And e) but VERY IMPORTANT: my built-in sound card doesn't redirect analogic (jack 3,5 from sky for example) sound through digital output. Will a tv card like HVR (with sound input on board) convey the signal, through the mobo, to the digital output?

2)From what I read on the forum, almost every MCE remote can work with MP and can be used also with Sky box with an ir blaster. Correct?

Any comment or suggestion is well well well appreciated
Ciao :D
