My Music Displays Only Fraction of the all Artists (1 Viewer)

When I switch from Shares to Artist in My Music, it shows only several "objects,"maybe ten, out of the couple of hundred that it should be showing. It shows all in Shares view. Is it a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

All my music is WMA Lossless, all on one drive, separated into Artist folders, each containing separate album folders.

Using the latest nightly build (as of May 30,) but does the same with Testrelease 0.2 RC4.
Using Razor, but same with all 16x9 skins.
XP MCE (SP 2)
Mac Mini Dual Core Intel 1.66
On-board video (Intel 950GM)
1072x600
NVIDIA Video and Audio Codec
VMR 9
WMP 10 (but WMP 9 selected in MP (no WMP 10 choice))
No TV card

I agree...try rescanning the database. You can do this by going to MP Configuration -> My Music -> Music Database -> rebuild. There's a way to do it within MP, but I can't remember how.

btw, importing to video and audio databases must be one of the most buggy "features" of MP

NLS: I'm managing more than 20,000 music files and don't have any problem.
If you tag them all correctly and organise them you shouldn't have any problem.
I have a folder for every artist and inside it, i keep album folders.


MacMini: Whenever you add new music you need to scan the shares, to update the Music DB, like Sam described.
An alternative is to use my MusicShareWatcher.
Either install it as Plugin or run it as a separate task.
When you add/change/delete/rename files in the shares, it'll update the Music Database.
I'm using it nearly every day, when adding new music or updating tags using an external Tag editor and haven't found a problem so far.

So I haven't - I have a huge folder with about 5000 files with correct cleaned up filenames and appropriate tags for singer and title but no album.

Is this a reason for the program to not allow import?

Make a backup of your music database, delete the music db and do an import again.
Post the log into pastebin and i can have a look at it, to see what happens.
Normally, if you haven't a album, it should be listed as "unkown", but this could be the problem.

Movie database is even worse. I have erased it, but when I try to import my videos (that I DON'T want to be looked online at IMDB), it still tries to look online at IMDB and crashes MP at the FIRST file (and it is not the file a problem, since I tried different folders).

Can you help with that too?

Music DB is musicdatabase5.db3 as the name says

Sorry, i'm not using the movie database currently.
But, you should open a new thread for that in the Bugs forum and i'm sure someone might help.
Just make sure you provide enough information. Logs, etc.

I actually did update the database (several times,) but no go:-(

Will play some more with it tonight. Just want to make sure it's nothing to do with the fact that everything is ripped to WMA Lossless?

On another note, what is a good way to add content to the Movies database?

If I add a show manually, it will not recognize it until I scan the whole share where it resides, which takes ages, and which screws up stuff that I had previously edited (it "corrects" it with wrong data from IMDB.) Also, if it doesn't find something in IMDB, it creates an "Untitled" thumbnail, which doesn't show up in the Edit list. So now I have a whole bunch of untitled icons for random shows (like all the Sopranos) which I cannot edit and about which no info is available indicating what they are.
