    Hi all,

Something that has been bugging me for the last several (sub)versions is that two of my music tracks would not display their embedded coverart as a thumbnail from within My Music.

I scratched my head no end, thinking is it a bug with MPTagThat (but the embedded thumbs displayed ok from Windows explorer), is it an issue with a specific view, etc.

But I believe I have now tracked it down :D

I have Mepo configured with the following:

Treat tracks in individual folders as an album
    Use thumb creation for folder.jpg
Use thumb creation for *.png, *.jpg
Use thumb creation for cover art embedded in ID3 Tags

I believe the issue is that if the track (in my case MP3s) do not have an album defined/specified as a tag, then no thumbnail is displayed from embedded coverart for that track.

I have changed the views from share to album, still no joy - so it doesn't seem to be thumb related.

    I performed the following steps:

Ensure track has no album defined as a tag
    Clear Music Thumb cache
Rescan Music folder/db from MePo config
    Go into My Music
    Specific track has no thumbnail

Edit tag (using MPTagThat) and define an album
    Clear Music Thumb
    Rescan Music folder/DB
    Go into My Music
Specific track has thumbnail from embedded coverart

    Edit tag - remove album
    Clear music thumb cache
    Rescan folder
    Go into My Music
    Specific rack has no thumb

I have attached my Config log, and my Mepo log.

And before anyone jumps at me, I know I am running a custom SVN, but this has been happening since before 1.2.0.

I have not tried any other combinations (eg folder.jpg, etc) - only using embedded coverart.

Please let me know if its me or a bug!

    Thanks,

    J. :D

If you are running your own compiled version try upgrading to the latest revsion. I have a feeling this might be fixed

    Hi,

    I'm using MP 1.1.2 downloaded 16.01.2011 on Windows XP 32 SP3.

    It's not fixed for me.

All mp3 without an album name specified don't show any id3 coverart at all anywhere in MP.
All mp3 with an album name specified do.

Is the fix you mentioned earlier not included in the download version?

    TIA, andbar.

    Hi,

version 1.1.2 was released on 29 November 2010. It doesn't really matter when you downloaded it.

Issue is fixed in our sources SVN repository, and fix will be a part of 1.2.0 release (Beta and all subsequent).

If you really want or need to, you can compile MediaPortal from sources yourself. Consult wiki for more information :)

    Hi,

thank you for making the details clear.
I will "workaround" by bulk adding album names where they are missing until 1.2 is released.
    That's fine for me.

Thank you again and please keep up the nice work!
    Bye, andbar.

    Hi,

if you added album names only where they were missing like me and you still experience missing album covers though there is an album name in every title, take a closer look at the characters in the album name.

I found the following characters to be preventing MP from displaying cover art:

    , [ ] ( ) .

    there may be more.

So I suggest to keep album names simple...
    It might help.

    Bye, andbar.
