I don't know if this is the correct forum-section for this? If not, feel free to move it
In my first post here, I would like to share my experience, as I did not find anything similar in this forum.
I had extreme problems with tearing in all kinds of video-play with any application (not only MP).
This was only visible on my PlasmaTV, not on the 7" Display in my OrigenAE Dign x15e. (used in clone-mode) The Plasma is a Gericom 42" HD (1024x768 pixel, See my profile for a longer list of my hardware in use)
So I started to search this forum for a solution.
As advised in numerous threads, I changed the refresh-rate to be a multiple of 25Hz like 50/75 Hz, Vertical Sync = always on, exclusiv directx for VMR9, different codecs, a clean and reduced XP installation and so on...nothing helped!
Then I noticed, that tearing also happens when I drag around "normal" windows like explorer or so.
This leaded my to the conclusion, that it must be some hardware problem with my TV. After some research, I figured out, that my Gericom-PlasmaTV can be used with refresh-rates from 50-75 Hz, but -and thats important- the display will always flicker/refresh with 60Hz regardles what refresh-rate you select on your grafics-card!
I dont know how they do this technically and if other PlasmaTV-Brands do the same, but anyway...the solution is quiet simple just set your grafics-card to match 60 Hz and any tearing is gone!!!
There may be still some potential for optimization using tools like reclock for PAL(25hz stuff), but so far I am more than happy!
I hope this may be of some interest for other PlasmaTV-Users!

Please ignore my poor english, as I am not a nativ speaker (from Germany)
