    Hi,

    quality settings for PVR 350 do not work correct.

    - configure MP to use quality control eg. medium
    - set the bitrate settings with the Hauppauge Tweak Tool before start of MP to something like CBR 1000.
    - start MP
    - start My TV
    - stop MP
    - start Hauppauge Tweak Tool you can see this:
    peak: 4000 (ok)
    average: 12500 (should be 2000 ;))

    Hi,

    just wanna bump this one up. Still existant in RC4.

    The SetVideoBitrate() method of hauppauge.cs does not seem to work with the PVR 350. Seems as if the used structure is not the right one, because GetVideoBitrate() also gives back some strange values. With my PVR 150 the settings work, perhaps it depends on the different driver version?

    haven't tried today (or checked the log) but I do remember that I had mistakenly clicked "quality" in configuration and that stopped my TV from working (couldn't make graph)

    I will try this evening

    I noticed that a couple of weeks ago a recording that I made (with RC4 no SVN) which usually take from 4 GB to 7GB was 15 GB for a movie under 2 hours. I went to the set up and checked that I had the quality setting on medium. Since then it hasn't happened, but I'm on SVN May 22nd. Maybe this is the same problem.

    Hi,

    thanks for asking back. Yes, its still an issue. :(

    SVN: mediaportal-svn-06-14-2006--12-54.rar

    - started Hauppauge Tweak Tool and set CBR 6000 in Bitrate Settings

    - started Configure:
    * PVR 350 prio 3
    * enable quality control
    * VBR 2000 / 4000 - medium
    * VBR 8000 / 9000 - high (standard!)

    - started MP:
    * scheduled two recordings each 30 minutes (ARD 17:55 and ZDF 18:30)
    * first recording with standard Bitrate high
    * expected filesize: ~ 1.7 GB
    * resulting filesize: ~ 2.8 GB (=Bitrate 13000)
    * second recording with Bitrate medium manually set
    * expected filesize: ~ 0.7 GB
    * resulting filesize: ~ 2.8 GB (=Bitrate 13000)

    - closed MP
    - started Hauppauge Tweak Tool to check settings
    * VBR - Average 12500 - Peak 4000

    Hi Flipger,

    I need some advice, screenshots or something like that.
    Tried to reproduce, but I'm not sure how to use tweak tool?:confused:
    And where to find the peak rate, you mentioned?

    Regards

    Hi Ralph,

    sure. I am happy if someone can also look into this.
    Hauppauge Tweak Tool

    - open it and change to 250/350 TAB
    - choose your card and hit "Open"
    htt1.jpg

    - this opens the Hauppauge driver settings
    - there are two places to see and set the bitrate. they are linked, if you change one the other is also set automatically.

    htt2.jpg

    htt3.jpg

    After running MP I saw 12500 (12.5) in the average bitrate settings.

    HTH, Flip.
