Guustflater,It should be reading the dirscan_dir field from the ini. It works here, can you give me your dirscan_dir line out of the ini file?The Yabse results have a lot of parsing done on them and I would say that is what is taking so long. If it's a big problem right now you can reduce the number of search results returned and that should help a little bit. I definitely did want to add those little spinning wait circles too, though. I'll try to get that in the next version. Also, since you suggested Yabse, do you have any idea if their RSS feeds usually work? I can't connect to any of them.
