That would allow the community to assist with extending support for other sites as well as keeping the supported sites up to date. The reality is that all these sites change their layout from time to time and each such change will require an update to the plugin. If the original author is actively maintaining the plugin, this is not a big deal. But as we have seen, the original authors of plugins often take well deserved breaks from their creations. And few among us have both the ability and the available time to delve into plugin innards and fix it ourselves.
