I've been using Media Slayer plugin with dvd43 to rip dvds into the my videos folder. It rips fine most of the time. Sometimes it doesn't bypass region protection but that's the only issue with the ripping.
When I try to play one of the ripped videos, it'll usually play the first one or two just fine. However, after that it'll lock up. It might be stuck in the mounting process, it might just lock up when trying to play a movie, it might lock up during the first second of play, but it always locks up. I used to be able to just use the remote to make it go into stand by and wake up and I'd be back on the main menu. That doesn't even work anymore. It just locks up the computer with the going into stand by screen.
MP also crashes when I try to go to the main menu while on the title screen of a DVD.
The MAIN purpose of me building a DVR system was not for DVR purposes but mostly as a DVD back up player. My kid scratches up all of the DVDs and tries to play with them. I figured if I had an all in one DVR/game system that I could just add on a ripping plugin and just mostly use that.
I've tried using the program for MCE 2005 but when it tries to install the server, my computer blue screens.
I've tried installing Mythbuntu but the disc gives some kernel error before even getting to a set up screen.
This is probably my last option. Can someone please help me out.
