Well, there might be something there...
I have 2 profiles, both with admin rights: one for local access and another one for RDP with the terminal server patch so I can connect remotely without influencing MP.
Now I see that the LyricsEngine.dll and MyLyrics.dll file don't not have any ntfs permissions for the mediacenter user.

UPDATE: adding permissions to the files, fixed it partially. The database files have changed (date & size) but again I got a crash...
Yes, it is a clean install (upgrade from a clean 1.0.1 to 1.0.2) without SVN's

Me too! This is in Batch Search. I have 13183 mp3, flacs etc. Will having .wav and dts files in the search folder make this crash?

I only have 1 admin account on my HTPC, no crashes for me...

Btw, I didn't know the Terminal service "patch" was available. I did notice it being called differently somewhere else though :D

    Hi Peter and coolchris,

I have found the reason for your reported problems. In batch search 8 songs are searched at all times. Due to what ever reason some sites now and then don't respond to requests and they are timed out when a specified amount of time has passed. In short, to gain a better performance I have developed a little algorithm that cheats a bit and starts a new search before the idle have ended correctly. That works very well if the number of concurrent searches aren't set to high. In past versions of MyLyrics I have set the concurrent searches to 6. I experimented a bit before this release and was optimistic with the respond time for the sites, so I set it to 8. However that has shown to be to high a number for searches 5000+ songs. I got too high memory load after 80 minutes and 6500 songs searched! I'll lower the number of concurrent searches to 6.

For now, lower the number of songs searched to max. 4000 and you should not encounter a MP crash any longer. Thanks for the reports.

If you accept I will close this thread.

    cheers,
    mackey

marvenius: have a look at it, it's really a nice thing if you want to do something remotely without 'disturbing' what's happening in MP. Of course you cannot start certain programs twice. To find it, google for: sala terminal server, works like a charm.

mackey: thank you for digging in to it.
I have tried again to fill my database yesterday and of course I got crashes again.
What I did then is cancel (your stop :p) the process and start it again but this takes a lot of time since it starts to scan from the beginning every time.

uhm... how can I limit the number of files to look for?

Just change the number of songs to search on top of the batch search tab in the textbox next to text "Top limit of songs to search". Enter a number less than 5000 and you shouldn't experience a crash any longer.

Peter, if have selected 2000 to be the number of songs to search - at which point in the point does it then crash?

I understood from your previous posts that the problem arose when you hit 5000+ songs, which means that you there were able to search 2000+ songs. Does the crash with 2000 selected happen when 2000 songs have been search and the search is about to finish up, or does it happen sooner? Also, it MP shutted down hard as your searches with 5000+ song?

I tried again with 500 songs and the first time it went well but the second run crashes at step 2 (searching for lyrics).
Lowered the number to 100 and 50... still the same. #SIGH#

Okay, the crash is clearly not due to a memory leak but it most likely related to your special profile setup and denied access due to a to low permission for some file(s). Like the error with the permissions on the database files you encountered. If you want me to look deeper into it, please attach your MP logs and a copy of your "MediaPortal.xml" file (from your C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\ folder) to a new message in this thread.

    cheers
