Synopsis::

The context menu in My Music appears once when I press f9 but then it adjusts the volume down. This appears to have happened before with RC2

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=13222&highlight=context+menu+mymusic

I noticed this first with my remote and I thought that something in the firefly setup was messed up, but I checked this with my keyboard and it is giving the same results, whilst checking this I killed the firefly program and the x10 software just to be sure. I checked it with RC3 also and got the same results. Anyone else noticed this? I htought initially this was a conflict with mykeys but disabling mykeys did nothing.

UPDATE

Context menu works fine as long as you don't go into the playlist area, if you go in there and start a playlist then f9 reduces the volume!

I don't believe that this was ever fixed from RC2, SteveV was looking at it but was unable to get a solution as far as I know. The F9 key is the volume down in WMP so if you are having a lot of trouble with it you can select to use directshow for playback in configuration.

Kludge fix, Editing keymap.xml to move the f9 context menu call to another unused key seems to correct this issue. The volume keys as are all the other keys in WMP seem to be hardcoded, I couldn't find anything in WMP registry entries or in the WMP folder with any reference to keymapping or the like. I shifted the context menu key to f12 and adjusted my Firefly profile accordingly. Works for me. I did see somewhere in the forums that there is to be keymapping customization in a future release of MP. :D :D

    I know this is a pain. I spent quite a bit of time trying to fix this problem but most of the solutions I came up with caused side effects that were nearly as bad as (and in some cases worse than) the original problem.

    The issue is that WMP uses a number of non-configurable keyboard shortcuts. Anytime a WMP window is active these kb shortcuts get trapped by WMP. From an MP standpoint, if the music player is set to WMP and the music overlay is visible the keys get intercepted by WMP. And while many of the hotkeys don't clash with MP's keyboard shortcuts, the f8, f9 (and f10 IIRC) are mapped to essential functions. One thing I haven't looked at is whether the WMP keys are mapped via registry entries. If they are it would be easy enough to modify the entries when MP is launched and restore them on MP exit.

    SteveV - Think about those of us that will have the MP computer only being used as a HTPC, then we wouldn't need to have them changed back. Correct?

    I guess there's no harm in having them restored back. I mean, if you don't use WMP otherwise, then there's no problem. But I personally think its better to change it back so that if there are any side-effects due to the changes, they do not cause problems elsewhere. Some people may change their mind later too, and forget that the registry entries were changed and hence begin asking questions that seem obvious. Besides, writing registry entries doesn't consume much time anyway - the only problem is with permissions in XP.

    Changing the keys via the registry for wmp would be the easiest, I only had a cursory look around so they may well be hidden in there somewhere. Would be a simple task for either a straight registry write or use a registry import to set the keys and another to reset them. F12 doesn't seem to do anything else so it works for me at least.
